Hello, everyone. Today, I will be blogging about what I’ve learnt throughout this whole term. The aim of our lesson is to comprehend if we have understood our lessons throughout the term. This blog is not an open-book, meaning no research, no slides to look back through, and no notes. We’re going to do it off of memory.
Linking Terms of Genetics
– DNA is the entity that lives in all living organisms—it’s the cells that contain our genetics. Our genetics is developed from our heritage, which is passed down from generation to generation (mainly from our parents)—this is inheritance.
Linking Terms of Evolution
– Traits are our physical characteristics, which are brought about by nature’s selection for our survival. If our traits are incompatible with our environment, natural selection comes into place. Natural selection is the process by which your body hand-picks the best traits to help you survive in your environment. After natural selection has set in, your body would have grown and adapted unmistakably to help you survive. But, you would want your species to carry on, right? That’s where reproduction comes in. Beings of the same species reproduce (breed) to carry on the nature of life that they hold. And after many, many years, these organisms evolve. Evolution comes from nature developing itself, which is a similar way to nature’s selection, except your natural selection grows to become something better. Stronger. Developed. Evolution helps us survive in the environment, growing along with it.
