📚 Library Day & Dress-Up as a Book Character – A Day Full of Imagination!

What a magical day we had celebrating Library Day! Our tamariki came to school dressed as their favourite book characters, and it was amazing to see the creativity and excitement throughout the day. From princesses and superheroes to storybook favourites, every costume told a story and brought books to life. We were lucky to spend time in the library where tamariki explored a range of books and enjoyed being part of a rich literacy environment. One of the highlights was our shared storytelling time, where children listened, asked questions, and made connections to characters and their own experiences. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they engaged in conversations and shared their ideas. The visit also included interactive experiences, such as exploring musical instruments and participating in group activities. These moments supported not only their love for reading, but also their social skills, turn-taking

and curiosity.Throughout the day, there was a strong sense of joy, belonging, and collaboration. Tamariki supported each other, admired each other’s costumes, and worked together as they moved through different activities.

Library Day reminded us how powerful storytelling can be in fostering imagination, language development, and a lifelong love for

reading. We look forward to continuing to build on these experiences in our classroom.
