Last weekend, at the start of Term Two, we as a class went up and dug a drain that reached from the top of the hill near the bank of the Bay of Islands College rugby field down to the bottom where the dip ends. For me, it was easy, you know, as a strong, tall young man who likes to do hands-on work.
The challenging part was the tools and equipment we were using. During the day, it was easy because the weather was nice and cool, but later on it got hot and dense. One of the wheelbarrows had a tyre worn down to the rim, while the rest were safe to carry the rocks.
At the end of the week, it went really well for me. Unfortunately, so far, I think we just need four to five more wheelbarrows to finish the job. I enjoyed it because the work we do in the building academy is what I like.
