Hello, today we were learning about Women suffrage and Kate sheppard and for my task I decided to write a information report about her.
It took me a little while to create the draft because I had to do research and look back at books I read, but it was easy to copy it into the docs. We got about 3-4 books to read but we could do extra research on Google, but what I found that the information on Google was different than the one in the books. I only took one session of social studies to type it in and then the last day I put the pictures in. The pictures for the docs and I think they match the text I put them by.
Kate Sheppard is a person who lead the petition of women’s right to vote and even the WCTU which I will tell you about later on. KAte sheppard and the WCTU people went around NEw Zealand to collect signature to win the petition. Women should vote because they can do a social reform, they can share perspectives and solve problems men overlooked. Fun fact, she is the only women on the New Zealand national currency. She was the leader of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union which stands for WCTU. She collected about 32,000 signature making the paper roll around 270 meters long. She was born in England 10th March 1847. She was 22 when she, her mother and her siblings went to New Zealand and at the age of 24 she married a guy named Walter Sheppard. That is all the facts I am going to tell you but if you want more things don’t forget to read the report I created.
