Our class started doing a project about Japan in term 1. We had to choose 3 good things about Japan and research about it. Ruzzel, Samantha and I worked together and wanted our project to be about anime, style and food. We had a lot of fun finding out new things and decorating our slideshow. Our class even wrote a paragraph explaining the history of anime, here is what I wrote:
The history of anime started in the early 1900’s. It turned into the anime that we all know today. The first anime was made in 1907, by Katsudo Shasin. Animators didn’t make anime frame by frame. Instead they would cut out parts of the object and move them separately. This way of animating is much cheaper and takes less time. Most animes today are drawn one frame at a time, which takes up a lot of time and effort. A few years later, animators started using a something called “cel animation” and it gave the quality a big boost. There wasn’t any color in their animation, just white, black and shades of grey. In 1948, “Toei Animation” was created. This was a massive step to anime. Color was finally added to anime in 1958.
