Last week was book week, one of my favourite weeks of the year!
Every class decorates their door around a book, like Duck on a Bike or Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. At the end of the week the doors are all judged and winners are chosen. Our class chose The Wonderful Wizard of Oz for our theme.
We had planned to paint the glass sliding door with a scene of the Emerald City and to paint the characters on the walls inside. The painting of the door went pretty smoothly for the first day but as we had a couple of different teachers throughout the week, as well as many different ideas and concepts being added halfway through, things got a bit hectic.
Some people wanted to line up all the painted characters against the door, some wanted to paint them on the glass, and so onWe were making pretty good progress by Friday, when we put up a balloon garland, taped flying monkeys to the roof and stapled quotes to the walls with the characters. The finishing touch was a yellow brick road sprawling from one door to the other.
The winning classes were Rainbow Fish, George’s Marvellous Medicine and The Very Clever Bear. We got Highly Commended. I’m pretty happy with that, Although most of the class isn’t. But we know we tried hard and put in a lot of work and had fun, at least some of the time.
For Book Character Day, I was Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games trilogy, one of my favourite series. some other characters people dressed as were Dog Man, Dear Zoo, and Azlan the lion from The Chronicles of Narnia.
All in all, I enjoyed my last book week a lot. What’s your favourite book?
