Something I have learned about Refugees.

My Name is Rez tells a powerful and inspiring story that mirrors the real-life struggles of millions of refugees worldwide. By starting her life in a Pakistani refugee camp, Rezs childhood highlights the harsh reality of statelessness, a situation where families are forced to flee their homelands due to violence and completely lose control over their own futures.  She had to bravely navigate intense isolation, a new language, and an anxious, rough start in unfamiliar surroundings, while even facing unfair bullying from classmates who did not understand her Kurdish background. Instead of letting these difficult barriers stop her, Rez showed incredible resilience and worked tirelessly in school, proving that a person’s past does not have to dictate their future. Her dedication paid off when she earned a spot at the world-famous Harvard Law School, mastering the legal skills needed to fight for global justice. Her amazing journey from a vulnerable refugee child to a highly successful international human rights lawyer completely smashes the negative stereotypes that paint refugees as helpless victims or permanent burdens on society.
