Something that I learned about refugees

This week we read a story called My name is Rez. It is about a little girl and her family who had to leave their country because of war and when they finally made it to a safe place in New Zealand they didn’t know the language and when she started her new school she was getting bullied. Reading her story and learning about refugees really opened my eyes to how much we take for granted. Two words that came up during this are displacement and statelessness . Displacement is like being forced out of your home because it is too dangerous to stay and statelessness is like even more weird because it means you dont belong to any country at all leaving you with zero rights. It made me think about how terrified it would be to be a refugee.
We played a game where we had to be a refugee. We had to write down 30 things that we would take if we were a refugee. It was kinda funny because the questions that Jonny would tell us were kinda out of it but sadly I did not make it through all the questions.
