We are reading a novel called The Boy Who Harnessed the wind and written by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer.
The main Character in the text is William he is a curious young boy, William was raised in Malawi and January 1997 . William and his family witnessed a tragic loss because of William’s father’s brother Uncle John who was diagnosed with a deadly disease in his Lungs. Called tuberculosis The Text was set in Malawi and it took place in the 2000s.Based on what I’ve read I know The narrative focusing on a young William Kamkwamba, his family, and the community was Facing an extreme poverty, starvation and unable to afford school fees.
William spent time in a local library where he discovered the basics of electricity and wind power. He successfully built a working wind turbine out of scrap metal, bicycle parts, and blue-gum trees, ultimately saving his village from the drought by providing electricity and water for irrigation.
