Peer Pressure: Term 2 – Week 6

. 。・゜✭・Introduction・✫゜・。.

Hi Bloggers!

This week in health we are learning about friendships and peer pressure. Today we learnt all about negative and positive peer pressure. Negative peer pressure is pressuring/influencing/threatening you to do something that isn’t good or/and healthy. Positive peer pressure is pressuring/motivating you to do something that is good or/and healthy.

. 。・゜✭・Scenario・✫゜・。.:
A friend has asked you to help them with their homework in the library after school. You want to catch up with your sports (or music) practice but, instead, you decide to help your friend. You arrive at the library first. You wait, but you are aware you have only an hour before you need to be at home to look after your little brother.

We answered these questions as a class:

  1. How do you feel after 5 minutes? 10 minutes? 15 minutes?
  2. How do you feel when finally after 20 minutes, your friend arrives?

. 。・゜✭・Questions・✫゜・。.:

1. How would you feel when your friend turns up?

When my friend turns up I would feel angry and frustrated depending on how late she came.😡

2. What would you say to your friend?

I would say: “Bro! where were you this whole time? I’ve been waiting for so long!”😤

3. How is your friend likely to feel?

I think she/he would feel a little bit guilty or sorry for me, unless she/he had to do something that was more important.

4. How is this likely to affect your relationship?

I think it would probably affect our relationship quite a bit, but I don’t think it would/should break our friendship completely over a little thing.

What would a passive, aggressive, passive-aggressive and assertive response be?

I would be passive-aggressive. I would be feeling aggressive because I would be really mad and angry at them. I would be showing passive communication because she/he is my friend, and I wouldn’t want to destroy my friendship with them over just one thing.

. 。・゜✭・Question・✫゜・。.

How would you feel if a friend did that to you? What would your response be? (Passive, aggressive, passive-aggressive and assertive)
