This week we have been building and launching our bottle rockets,I was not there to participate in most of the class, but I will try and explain the key points to my best ability
Aim/Lo: the goal of this bottle rocket launch was to see how forces acted and to see how far it would go and how long it would stay in the air.
equipment:Bottle,cardboard, hot glue gun,paper,stopwatch,bike pump.
Results: My team’s rocket was in the air for 1 second it made it a total of 5.7m
Discussion: My team did not do the best but we were still happy with results, some teams did really well with an air time of 2.23s and a distance of 9m, the forces on our rocket were unbalanced which is probably why it crashed into the ground after such short air time, The forces our rocket experienced were strong upwards and forwards push and a small downwards and back pull it was a non contact force because we pumped air into the bottle which once it was out of room blew out of the bottle giving us the strong push forwards and up, there are different types of forces twist force, a push force and a pull force, for us we experienced a push and pull force.
Conclusion: there are many improvements we would need if we wanted to make it go further next time such as making it more aerodynamic and finding another way to give it a stronger forward/upwards push.
