What is the Pacific ring of fire?
The Pacific ring of fire is a 40,000 kilometre belt shaped almost like a horse shoe. It is located in the Pacific ocean. The countries that surround the ring have a large tectonic plate that collides with other plates underneath it. It is called the Pacific ring of fire due to the many volcanoes in that area. It is also home to the place where volcano’s, tsunamis and earthquakes are most active. 90% of all the named disasters were all in the Pacific ring of fire.
