Yolo everybody this week we learnt about the Pacific rings of fire which includes the volcanoes and earthquakes.
1. What ocean is surrounded by the Ring of Fire? Pacific Ocean
2. Which country on your map has the most volcanoes? Indonesia
3. Which earthquake had the largest magnitude? Chile Earthquake 9.5
4. Name three countries that experience both earthquakes and volcanoes? New Zealand, Japan and Chile
5. Describe one pattern you can see on your map? They all outline the ring of fire
6. Why do earthquakes and volcanoes occur in similar locations? They are caused due to the movement and interaction of tectonic plates.
7. Which tectonic plates are involved in: They are involved in all Japan, Chile and New Zealand.
8. Why are some earthquakes stronger than others? The reason why some earthquakes can be stronger than others is depending on the area and how far the ground slips.
9. Explain why Christchurch is not located directly on the Ring of Fire but still experiences earthquakes. The reason being is because Christchurch sits directly on top of active crustal faults. (Which are parts of earth that have been moved a bit or rocky)
