My ideas relate around Van Gogh, Jacob Yikes and the soul of music. I will use Van Goghs technique, impasto, to create rhythmic and directional brushwork ideas and sketches that will be incorporated in my paintings. This will convey deep emotional connection to my ideas as well as using Van Gogh to exceed the emotions.
The focus of my project will be the art of music and how it deeply connects the human soul, through this I will be incorporating Van Gogh’s painting techniques. This links directly to the art style of Spiritual and cultural. Through this work. I want to show the audience how music moves people, fills the soul with life and purpose, without it we are nothing.
To show this theme, my artwork will feature photographs of my friends playing instruments, which I will then use for my paintings. These specific shots are symbols that represent the flow of becoming one with the music, everything leaving your mind as soon as you connect with the flow of the instrument. Overall, my work will have a very touching and passionate mood.
Technically, I will apply my paint using a thick impasto brushwork method. I will use a natural and earthy color palette to demonstrate physical movement and emotional urgency. I am doing this because it represents the emotional impact, for example impasto, will create a three dimensional space that makes the paintings feel more alive and tense, bringing my music theme to life. I will combine this traditional approach with Jacob Yikes to create depth and visual interest, to make a highly layered marks that are showcased in Jacob Yikes artworks. Paying attention to line work to define the people in my paintings and allowing it to align with my composition. My compositions will use a strong sense of layered depth and textured surfaces to mirror the landscapes organic background. I will copy this technique in my own work by applying my paint in a texturual, layered way to express the movement and feeling towards music and how it connects with the soul.
