atomic model of boron

Aim: Make a model atom of boron

Equipment: Paper, tape, beads, scissors, pen and string.

Method: 5-10 numbered steps

  1. Pick out the one you want to make a model atom of.
  2. Find out the amount of protons, electrons and neutrons
  3. Get equipment needed for the model
  4. Cut out paper into 2 rings and one small circle to put in the middle
  5. Tape the paper to the string and add the beads following a diagram.
  6. Write an information card that contains the symbol, atomic number, mass number, protons, electrons, neutrons and the electron configuration.

  • An atom is the tiny building block of all matter and an element is a pure substance made of only one type of atom. 
  • Protons, electrons and neutrons are the tiny building blocks that make up every atom in the universe.
  • My element has 5 protons, 5 electrons, and 6 neutrons.
  • What is the mass and atomic number for your atom? Mass of 10.81 and an atomic number of 5.
    • What do these numbers mean? Atomic is the number of protons and mass is the total weight of the protons and neutrons combined. 
  • 2 interesting facts about your atom. It creates a striking bright green flame and has an extremely high melting point. 

Conclusion: In conclusion this model atom helped me understand how to build or draw the atomic model or boron.
