In Music we are learning about keyboards and pianos. We are researching them and answering 4 questions.

2. Compare & Contrast

  • What are the differences between a Piano and a Keyboard? – A Piano uses hammers which hit the  strings to make the sound, it has 88 keys and has heavy keys. A Keyboard uses electronics to make the sound, has 61 keys and has light keys. However, they are both percussion instruments.

3. Instrument Classification

  • The instrument classification of a Piano and Keyboard is percussion. They are percussion instruments because you have to use force for them to make a sound.

4. Famous Pianists

  • Two famous Pianists are Lang Lang and Daniil Trifonov
    • Three facts about Lang Lang are
      • Lang Lang started playing Piano at 3 years old.
      • He gave his first public recital at 5 years old.
      • He had a left arm inflammation and had to cancel performances for over a year.
    • Three facts about Daniil Trifonov are
      • Daniil Trifonov was named Gramophones 2016 Artist of the Year.
      • He won first prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011.
      • He gave his first concert with an orchestra at 8 years old.
