My Jar

We had to make art in a jar based on the story called Maui Ki Te Waipounamu.  I did the part of the story when Maui lifted his toke. One of my challenges was trying to get Maui head to stay on. One of my successes was getting him into the jar in one piece. One of the small children on the boat pointed out the white fluffy snow-capped Mountains and Maui said, “No it is just a mirage of the ocean.” This is why the Southern Alps are called Kā Tiritiri o te Moana.  Maui and his people had been on the moana for a long time. Maui,s mistaken assertion that it was just a mirage of the  Moana.
