WALT:identify how the natural world is portrayed in media and considering the messages this may convey.
This week we have been learning about in ancient Aotearoa New Zealand back then like 160 million years ago!The animals were a giant eagle,a cricket the size of a mice and a stout bird which is the giant eagle’s prey,when Maori gazed into Aotearoa’s forest-filled land they couldn’t predict what creatures was hiding in the trees,a lot of unique plants and animals live here in New Zealand like ferns and kiwis which is native to New Zealand Nature.
Back the 160 million years ago there were 2 super continents called Gondwana and Laurasia,Gondwana included continents and countries like Australia,South America,India,Antartica,Africa and New Zealand and they all got separated 160 million years ago by earthquakes,volcano eruptions and more natural disasters.
back then there were no evidence that mammals lived in New Zealand after it split from Gondwana and the only mammals were seals and bats,in 2003 scientists found a tiny 16-million year old fossil of a mammal in central Otago,Scientists are still trying to find out what species it belonged to.
the evolution and adaptation for animals,back then,animals would look completely different!For example,if u put a penguin in a hot place,it would have to adapt to its surroundings so maybe they are gonna loose their fat that makes them warmer and their thick fur and maybe their fur is gonna become thinner when they adapt to a hot place because if they still have their hot,thick fur in a hot place then it wouldn’t be comfortable for them so their bodies would change to fit their surroundings and make them more comfortable over time!
Fun fact: Tuatara’s still look like what they looked like 200 million years ago!They developed small adaptations to colder temperatures,they live in native forests and they catch different prey, so scientists believe that they didn’t really have to change much overtime.
that’s enough of me explaining what Aotearoa New Zealand was like 160 million years ago an animal evolution!Lets get into the create task,my first create task was a podcast with my chuckaboo alisha
