Last week we finished our Dawn raids study with a visit from Will ‘Ilolahia, who was one of the founding members of the Polynesian Panthers. He expressed his journey and struggles he had durring the terrible times of the Dawn raids, but whenever he felt like giving up he was reminded of people who looked up to them, and it kept him empowered to overcome each challenge. Something that I found powerful was when he told us that there were Panthers all over the world fighting smiliar problems, even when they were mistreated and violated they pushed through and fought for their people’s rights.
It was interesting to listen to because It was amazing to listening Will’s story espeacially from his perspective. Something I found interesting was within the Polynesian Panther Party the important/leaders of the group each had a role and those roles were very important and contributed alot to the cause.
