This term, we learned about the Dawn Raids, a stressful time in Aotearoa’s history when changing rules unfairly targeted Pasifika families, prompting the Polynesian Panthers to step up and support their community with informational flyers. To show what we learned, we completed a quick-write session to design our own versions of their historic protest posters. We then used Gemini to turn our ideas into digital artwork, carefully tweaking our prompts until the AI generated the exact image we envisioned. During a quick write, we brainstormed strong messages based on our reading and mapped out our poster designs. We then brought our concepts to life by generating AI art in Gemini, which required us to refine and rephrase our prompts until we got the perfect final result. But this was fun to make and I wish to do it agin.
