꧁Reading – Narratives – ꧂

Hell0! Today we had a new narrative called The Lesson. It was in Sally’s { The main character } perspective, but I rewrote it in Izzy’s Perspective. Have fun reading!

WALT: Respond to narratives by using evidence from the text to understand characters, language, ideas and themes.

The Lesson.

She was late. Again. The others will be so mad at her. Especially Sally. She quickly put on her clothes and rushed out the door.

She went to the direction of the food court. She could imagine the argument, Sally’s angry face demanding why she was late. She went to the direction of the water fountain, behind the delicatessen stand. She stood in front of the water fountain. She was confused at first, but that confusion soon turned into anxiety. She was the first one to arrive? I guess it’s true when they say everything has a first. She thought. But it’s always Sally that’s first, she had that streak for as long they were friends. Then a terrible thought came to her mind. Maybe, maybe they left without her, maybe they were fed up with her, and they left without her.

No, they would never do that. They are my friends. They would understand. They waited for me, no matter what.

Would they?  Said that doubtful voice she hated. Would Sally wait? Would she?  She had her last straw.

Stop. She commanded that voice. Stop.

WOULD SHE?!?!?!??!??!?!

A few minutes later……

She held her face with her hands, trying to stop the tears coming. It was no use. She burst into tears. 5 minutes till the movie started, maybe they DID go without her, maybe they were at the movies together, laughing at her for being so stupid and late and- and…….

She burst into tears again, her eyes red with effort. Then the sound of footsteps…. Wait what?

She looked up. She couldn’t believe it! It was Sally, although she looked like she wanted to kill her. And then Ellie, Aroha and Jane, although THEY looked like they were feeling sorry for her. Maybe if she looked miserable enough, Sally would soften up.

Such hope. That girl had a heart of stone and a mind of glass. She said that because after Sally’s mothers death, her attitude changed immediately, and her heart turned to stone. “Hurry up or we’ll be late.”  Was Sally’s cold reply. Reluctantly. She followed Sally and the others.

The End.
