Problem Solving – August 27th, 2026
Kia Ora dear audience to my recap blog about today’s Kiwi Can session hosted by Glaytor and Here Piho alongside honorable quests which I sadly forgot their names. Today’s Kiwi Can lesson was centered on a topic about problem solving, now what could problem solving be about in this context? Well problem solving are about cognitive and practical ways to formuatle potential answers that could be used against a difficult obstacle in a individual’s physical or mental way, in short, they could be answers or choices to help with a really hard irritating barrier. For example from a few students like requesting assistance or help from another student or an available teacher, implementing new strategies to use against problems in academic subjects, assisting someone visibly in desperate need for help and way more. This blog will be explaining about what happened today leading up to the events of the session and the conclusion.
[First Paragraph]
The day started as usual just like any other school morning, students got into a circle in Room 9 preparing for our morning karakia, right after our karakia we greeted the present teachers which was Zoe and the morning went on as usual once Whaea Lorraine entered the room as she informed us about the incoming Kiwi Can lesson starting soon while Room 10 were excluded back to their class doing what they had to do. We were reminded on what to do and react with full energy regardless of wether you’re in a low state, try your utmost best to enjoy today’s session and bring it all you have. We stood up after the quick discussion and departed outside of the class in one class line heading towards the Hall for the session. As we entered, we were immediately greeted by Glayter, Here and the guests after sitting down in 4 or more so lines, we started the session as Poching brave enough to stand up and greet both Glaytor and Here alongside the guests on behalf of Room 9 to thank them for today’s Kiwi Can which followed with a mele mele loud and clear full of energy. We recapped on last week’s Kiwi Can session but noted I was absence during the last session so I had no clue what the recap was but as it is listed in the following:
Last week’s nation was the Cook Islands with its greeting being “Kia Orana”

After the recap, we moved on to the current session. Today, our nation was the Kingdom of Tonga or shortened and generally called Tonga and its greeting is “Mālō e lelei”, it is a small island nation consisting of 170 to 176 islands located in the South Pacific Ocean, out of those 170 or 176 islands, only about 36 to 48 of those islands house a permanent population with the largest and most populated island being Tongatapu housing 74,454 people and holding the country capital Nukuʻalofa more detailed information about this country can be viewed via the link added to Kingdom of Tonga which leads straight to Wikipedia. We learned about the nation’s national delicacy called “Puaka Tunu”, a spit-roasted pork or a whole pig cooked slowly over an open fire and served in major family and church gatherings. Tonga’s national bird also which is the Tongan megapode, a tropical moist lowland forest bird endemic to Tonga and so much more. After acquiring these new found facts about Tonga soon getting with our first activity after discussions and questions revolving around our topic of problem solving.

The first activity or more so called an energizer (which are basically the little quick warm up before the more bigger and complex but enjoying activites) is called “Code Breaker” and in Code Breaker there are nine or more different colored hoops on the floor and two lines behind a hoop separated as it is a competition between both teams as Glaytor is standing in the front of the hoops as he explains that each hoop is a digit of code they must crack and one person from each team must walk to any hoop they can choose but it is a mystery if it is the right one, if it is, Glaytor says yes or no if it is wrong and that person must walk back behind their team for the other team to proceed and this goes on and on until eventually either team gets the digit right. First round was a three digit code, second round was a six digit code and the last round was another three digit code which will be explained more in detail.
The first round consisted of a three digit code which the first one was immediately right from my team but after a couple of unfortunate losses from both parties, we finally acquired the second digit before it was finally my turn which I walked to the first two hoops but was faced with a mysterious challenge, it was quiet and tense until out of a random hope I would get it, I walked to a blue hoop down from where I was and after a minute, Glaytor gave the cue that it was right which immediately erupted a burst of cheers and loud pride from my team as we won the first digit round.
The second round consisted of a six harder digit code which I didn’t get to participate in since it was won by the opposing team before I could get a turn but it was obviously the most diffcult one due to the amount of code it needed to be solved and my memory just couldn’t keep up with the right hoops or the loud directing coming from each team. After the opposing team won and did a similar loud cheering, it was officially game on with the last round announced.
In the last round we reverted back to an easier three digit code which I am glad I got another turn in this round, one right hoop which was a blue variant was the only hoop we got right from both teams, were quite stuck even stepping on other hoops that we already stepped on and clearly a wrong hoop until it was my turn as I stepped on the correct blue hoop I just walked across to another blue hoop once again and see if I was correct yet again, surely enough I was correct again which shook me a little bit and now the final digit I was looking at the other blue hoop below the first correct blue hoop and decided to walk to the orange hoop next to me and failed unfortunately and walked for the opposing team to go next but they still failed still going to uncorrect hoops until my team’s turn and a student first hopped on the correct hoops and was looking at the blue hoop below I mentioned and targeted it and yet again, that was the correct one which made our team won the last round and the entire energizer against the opposing team resulting in way more loud cheering than the first round.

Moving on from the first energizer with more exciting energy (as intended) but with a rush of pride and celebration. We moved onto the next activity, the real deal called “Human Wordle” where it involves a couple of groups each consisting of five students (probably) and one of them have to rush towards a small crowd in the center with Here whispering what the first word is and the person’s group must spell the rest but it is always four letters because of four students. If one of the groups have figured it out they must yell out to Here to show her their possible answer. I was with Price, Peter, Qaiser and Ismail from I could remember and the first word which Peter took the honors by going to Here for the word and he quickly came back as the word is “Super” where we quickly figured it out easily by hero from h to o (I was o), it was honestly surprising how no other group yelled out before us but once we got Here’s attention we went for it and she called out our group and our correct answer which followed by a lot of mild disappointment from a lot of defeated groups but satisfaction coming from us.
The next round was a bit confusing personally which from my memory I think Ismail insisted on going to the center with other group’s insisters, as he returned, he said “Kiwi” from what I heard and immediately thought it finished off with “Can” because Kiwi Can its gotta be right? Well I was embarrassingly wrong, it was actually another word I forgot about but it definitely wasn’t “can” since first of all theres four people being the word and can is obviously a three letter word but I had the idea that this is a trick question and I would have remove myself for the other three to spell it out but my team countered my initial idea by saying that I am the letter “d” and I thought what are is my team on about “can” isn’t spelled with d but once Here pointed at our team they all each said their word which wasn’t spelling can and once they got to me I said “n” hesitantly after hearing my other peers answers and the entire crowd erupted into giggles and chuckles as I hilariously failed to spell the answer but I was immensely confused. We quickly brushed it off and accepted defeat as the word was “Kiwi Board” or something along the lines of that and so we sat back down to explain what topic was shown in both activities.
Once we sat down in our lines, we shared questions about how problem solving and teamwork were shown in both activities such as supporting and directing your teammates in Code Breaker by helping them which hoops are the correct ones and which ones are uncorrect that were already identified by previous people and for problem solving, it was identical, just watch people who went before you, identify correct and uncorrect hoops and finally test your solution skills once it’s your turn and with additional support from your peers. For Human Wordle, we worked on figuring out each letter corresponding of the first starting word and each team had to help out their mates for each potentially correct letters to win the game. After having a great dicussion about how our centered topics were actually shown in these games we formed a circle with Here and Glaytor at the end of the circle which we started a quick game of GKQ to finish the session, the previous GKQ Master was Niah who absolutely obliterated half of the circle on the left where she wanted today’s subject to be about a fictional dystopian adventure series by the name “The Hunger Games” which she had great knowledge of unlike most of us as she stopped at the right side of the circle due to Te Aroha where it continued to be about general knowledge until Te Aroha was defeated by Hailey who became the GKQ Master for today and the next Kiwi Can session.
[Conclusion]
After the ultimate end of GKQ, it was time for our today’s session rating where we closed our eyes and moved our heads down facing the floor but we still had the ability to hear what rating they could, should or would lend us and generously our teacher Whaea Lorraine decided to give us a score of 90, more than the previous’s session score of 85 but it’s a visible upgrade previously which I was absent. We finished the session off with our usual ending farewell and lined up departing back to class. Thank you if you managed to reach the final end of this recap blog which I appreciate greatly.
