Yesterday, the Year 7 and 8s from Panmure Bridge School headed out for an awesome day at AUT Millennium in Rosedale, up on the North Shore. We split into four groups and hopped on the bus for a 40-minute drive.
Once we got there, Groups 1 and 2 started with kayaking and water safety, swapping over when they finished their lessons. Meanwhile, Groups 3 and 4 headed to rock climbing and athletics. Throughout the day, we all got a turn at every activity. It was such a cool trip, and we were super lucky to go!
Here is what we got up to:
-
Water Safety: We learned how to huddle up in the water. This keeps everyone together and stops you from getting too cold.
-
Kayaking: We had a go at paddling around freely and learned what to do if your kayak flips over (capsizes).
-
Rock Climbing: We strapped into safety harnesses and took turns scaling the climbing wall.
-
Athletics: We ran a 400-metre race, did some relay races, and played a bunch of fun games.
It was a epic day out where we learned heaps of useful survival skills and tried out some new sports!
