What a treat! The senior classes in Rooms 5 & 6 were honoured to have the amazing Jess, a Marine Biologist from Youth Ocean Explorers, visit us and share a presentation about the wonderful and exciting work they do to care for and protect our moana in Aotearoa.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn more about our marine environment and the important role we all play in protecting our moana. Jess showed an experiment of how ‘echolocation’ can be seen/visualised using fog and a dishwashing-liquid bubble. The students were amazed to see sound waves travel and bounce back from objects, just like bats and dolphins use echoes to navigate!
