This week we are celebrating Te wiki ō te reo maori.For Te wiki ō te reo maori we learned about Kōwhaiwhai patterns and their meanings.Kōwhaiwhai is traditional maori patterns that represent lots of interesting things. The Kōwhaiwhai pattern that I chose was Mangopare. It represents strength, courage, Hammerhead sharks and resilience. After we chose our patterns, Whaea Moana gave me a piece of paper and we started drawing. First we had to fold the paper in four quarters, then we drew our patterns. After that when we were done drawing, we started making Kōwhaiwhai stamps. First, Whaea Emily put us in groups. Next Whaea Emily gave us pieces of foam that we put on our Kōwhaiwhai patterns. Next we rolled paint on our foam. Then we stamped our stamps on paper.
