My Invaders v.s Locals Create Task for Inquiry 18.9.26

Hi

WALT: Understand How Isolated Evolution created unique endemic birds, and  evaluate why flightlessness became a liability when mammalian Predators arrived!

Yesterday for inquiry our task was to find facts from an Invader, and then we had to find facts from a local. My task was to go to the inquiry slides and then click the link to go to the site with all the birds and then I had to choose one Invader, and one local. After that I had to put the facts I chose in the poster thing. Oh and by the way I chose The little Spotted kiwi for the local and Feral cats for my Invader. Also I did it with a Buddy. (It was Israel). I enjoyed this task because it was fun choosing the facts and animals. We first had to put it on this plan thing then we could put it on a poster.

My Task:🡇

Here is the other plan thing

Your Research Task: Invaders vs. Locals

Invaders:  Locals:
Fact 1:

Feral cats are completely different to stray cats: strays have varying interactions and dependence on humans while feral cats are completely wild!

Fact 1:

The little spotted kiwi, or little grey kiwi, Apteryx owenii, is a small flightless bird in the kiwi family Apterygidae.

Fact 2:

Feral Cats have a major impact on our native New Zealand Birds. Like Bats, Frogs, Weta and Other insects.

Fact 2:

It is endemic to New Zealand, and in pre-European times occurred in both main islands, but is now restricted to a number of small offshore islands and mainland reserves protected by pest-exclusion fences.

Fact 3:

Feral cats have the same appearance as some common, short-haired house cats such as tabby, tortoiseshell and black

Fact 3:

The Little spotted Kiwi is about 0.9 to 1.9kgs about the size of a bantam.
