Yesterday in LS2, we spent a week learning about how vaping can affect your health. On Tuesday after lunch, some people came to talk to us about why vaping isn’t good for you. They introduced themselves and explained that they are part of a group called Ease Up, which has a website to help people stop vaping.
We were divided into four groups, and each group went into different rooms for a presentation. My group went to LS1. When we got there, the people explained what’s inside a vape and what it does to your body. They showed us the parts of a vape, like the mouthpiece, the battery, and the heating part that makes the vapor. They said that when you vape, the liquid inside is heated up and creates smoke that tastes sweet.
They also talked about what happens to your body when you vape. They said that vaping can hurt your lungs, your heart, and your brain. Each puff makes it harder for your heart to pump blood, which could lead to heart problems or sickness. Your lungs are affected the most because each puff makes it harder to breathe.
Then they gave us a straw and asked us to breathe through it, first easily, and then they bent it so it was harder to breathe. They explained that vaping is similar because each puff makes it more difficult to breathe. It’s not that I want to force you not to vape, but I’m just trying to make you aware of the risks so you can decide for yourself.
