hi my tuff lads.
WALT:explain what a story is about and what lesson the author is sharing,using clues from the book and things I already know to prove my ideas.
so the text we are reading this week for reading is “should the government ban kids on social media” which i strongly disagree on,apparently screens affect kids mental health and sleep and their learning because yr 5 and 6 students need 9-11 hours of sleep every night to have an healthy brain.
Doctors,parent and teachers think that they should set a time limit which I kinda agree on because its better to have a device for 1-5 hours a day than to have no device,80% of children use social media and most of them set their age as 13+ on social media which I think is very smart because my age is 47 on TikTok,Adults want kids to go outside and play but I think if kids want to play outside they can ONLY IF they want to,Adults also say that there are innapropriate things being shared on the internet which I agree so u have to manage their account.
my opinion on it is completely different because in the future over 90% of jobs require advanced technology skills so why not put your child on a device and they will be pros in the future and that is true in the future there is a lot of technology that will happen,and you can actually learn something from the internet like law by Mike,Zack d films and so much more that actually teach us stuff on the internet!There is also family issues so if you do and you have nothing to do you always have social media,you can talk to people and vent and sometimes social media can be your comfort because it distracts you from things that are happening in your life,you can also discover music and your favourite artists,entertaining videos on Youtube or TikTok and genuinely so much more you can figure out in the internet like tutorials and maybe even fashion trends or memes,and I feel like kids would be so much funnier with memes in their life because they could say it to a middle aged person and then they would have no idea what they are talking about

my first create task is this really cool comic strip and the things I had to mention in it was what the report is about and the main problem,how I would solve it and then the authors message which I had to finish the 2 sentence prompts.i have no idea where the bottom half went but I said “The way to solve the problem is to just see what your kids are seeing on the internet,social media can actually be helpful or if you need you can add time limits.” and “The report is about banning kids on social media and the main lesson the author is sharing about is why the government should ban i (which i don’t agree) i proved my idea using this clue from the book:Kids shouldn’t be banned because technology will help them in the future.”
REFLECTION:I really liked the task it was tuff
for my second create task I did this dear author letter and I wrote what the authors text was about and why I don’t agree with it and the solution and my advice instead of banning kids on social media and the reason why my advice works.
