Hello bloggers we have been reading about this text called Should Governments Set a Minimum Age Limit For Social Media? The text was by our teachers. 1st page says In Aotearoa NZ and across the world, people right now are fiercely debating If children under sixteen should be legally banned from using social media apps like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Snap chat and others. If governments pass strict age laws, so then children might spend outdoors, sleep better, and avoid digital harms. Recent health surveys show that over 80% of children aged 9-12 regularly use social media apps, however if lawmakers shut young people out of these platforms entirely. Health experts report year 5 and 6 students should be getting 9-11 hours of sleep because the blue light can affect them and make them wake up instantly. Social media networks use complex algorithms designed to keep users watching as long as possible to generate advertising profits. conversely many educators, youth advocates, and technology specialists argue about age bans and create new compilations without fixing the underlying safety issues. In NZ rural students and isolated young people find ways to use digital networks differently from scrolling, they find support groups, learn te reo Maori or connect with other people who share niche hobbies. Even if governments create strict age restriction laws, tech savvy children will easily bypass these restrictions. Furthermore, unless social media companies force every single user including adults to upload official identity documents or bio metric facial scans. International education reports estimate that over 90% of future jobs in NZ will require advanced computer skills. Protecting young people online is a very crucial goal, but imposing blanket age bans attempt to fix a modern problem. Governments enforce similar safety by design rules-requiring platforms to disable infinite scrolling, ban targeted by advertising.
1st create task I did was create a warning poster this create task was from last week because our normal create tasks for this week didn’t make sense to the text so we did create tasks previously. I enjoyed this create task because i could put some pictures and like putting pictures in my create task.
Second create task we done was a task from the create task we had to do this one was comic strip so we had to put pictures about the text and type in what the picture’s meaning is to it and it said to do it about a setting in the story but our story never had a setting he was explaining if governments should ban people aged 9-12 should be banned from social media. I enjoyed this create task because it was a comic strip and I like comics but I don’t read them much. I did not learn anything but bye bloggers.
