We went to watch the orchestra!♩♪♩♬ ♬♩♪♩

Week 2, 19th of October was a beautiful sunny morning! It felt like we had just arrived at school then left on the bus. Class by class we squished onto each bus, there were around 5-7 buses to transport our school to the town hall. We were the first school to turn up, it was really quiet for a few minutes, then suddenly, bus after bus surrounded our school packed with loud and bright students.

We made our way upstairs where we waited for a while to be guided to our seats, then finally we were taken to our seats at the middle top of the hall. We watched other schools slowly take their seats below and next to us. Then suddenly a group of students began chanting ” CHRIS, CHRIS, CHRIS ¨ This confused our school because we had no idea who Chris was?

A man appeared from behind the curtain, who I assumed was Chris because of the applause the students chanting gave him. He was wearing a vibrant pink suit, that stood out like a neon sign in a dim alleyway. He talked about what we were all doing here together, about how music can have emotions without words, but mostly about this book called how do I feel. There are different emotions on each page, and the orchestra played music that matched the emotion. For anger, it was loud, and tense music! We were told to bang our feet on the ground, which created rumbles as loud as an earthquake! We made an emotions song as well, that was super catchy!

I loved my experience at the town hall, interacting with other schools, learning about how music can have emotions and listening to the orchestra come together.

Have you been to the town hall before? What’s your favourite instrument?
