Hello readers this is my assessment for my blog it will be focused on the drug called heroin
HOPE YOU ENJOY!!!

The Drug

The drug that I will be focusing my time onto for this assessment will be heroin, this is a class A drug which entails that it would come up to a maximum of your full life in imprisonment (For dealing and supplying or anything along those lines) And the maximum fine is off 1000$ dollars.

What is its other names

The drug heroin has lots of different names to the point that I couldn’t name them all, so I’m gonna name the more commonly used nicknames / Street names that the heroin gets called.

Smack – The term originated in urban America around the 20th century gaining massive traction in the 1950’s
This is a universally recognised term for heroin

H (The Big H) – This is the abbreviation of the drug itself, This abbreviation was used for over texts and street deals to make it more simple to do deals. This is also a universal indicator for the drug Heroin

Horse – This over time became the nickname for heroin because it resembled the fast and aggressive action of heroin, this slang is more commonly used in the United States, British and then australia than any other country.

Dope – Historically the word dope came from a dutch word “Doop” which means a thick sauce or dipping lubricant which resembled the thick and sticky feeling of inhaling the vapours of heroin. It was primarily used in Canada and the United States.

China White – This slang represents the extremely pure white powder version of the heroin substance, though to note the chance of finding true china white in today’s market is extremely rare as it is never made as pure as it used to be made. this name for the drug is most commonly used among the United States, Europe and Australia to communicate for this drug.

What Is It

The drug named heroin is a class a drug, most commonly found in the form of a white (China white) or brown powder though it can be found as a vapour and more. The drug originated in London, England in 1874. The drug was created by the chemist C.R Alder, the drug was put under ban in the early 1900’s.

What does the drug look like

Heroin is commonly found in 2 different forms being the China white form and the normal brown powder version, the china white version is a showcase of a more pure version of heroin, whilst the brown one is the more common version of heroin.

How is the drug most commonly used

Heroin is most commonly used through the act of injection which allows for an immediate and instant high but it also has more risks for an overdose and a chance of risk of damage to the veins as well. Another way someone can take heroin is through snorting which is the process of sniffing it up the nasal area, this one has a slower high but more addictive doing it this way however can damage the nasal passages. And then the final way of intake is through smoking the substance through vapours, this one has the highest chance of over dosage and can deal major lung damage over time.

What influences adolescents / teens to use drugs and why

The most common influence for teens to use drugs are interpersonal (2-3 people) reasons, stuff like watching your family do it your entire lifetime can have a major influence on the way teens would think about it as they get older, or something like peer pressure as trying to look cool to make sure you keep friends can also be a huge influence on themselves. Some other reasons for someone doing drugs on the personal side would possibly be curiosity to try it at least once in someones life time. And then finally societal influences that cause people to use drugs are specifically the influences that get found on their device and the things the see online, E.g reels, tik tok, and anything along those  lines that people can see and be influenced on, on socials.

What are the Pos and Neg of taking this drug

Sarting on a good note regarding the use of heroin and thats these reasons, It gives a false sense of well-being and gives extreme pleasure, some other positive affects of heroin usage are rapid pain relief and a extreme sense of relaxation.
There are many more negative affects and now making a start on that we have the negatives, the long term affects of the usage of heroin are the it ruins our brain structure leading to things such as extreme insomnia, collapsed veins and damaged nasal tissues. Some of the short term affects is a severe itching and clouded mental functioning.

What are the laws or restrictions around the usage of this drug

The laws around the usage of heroin are tied to the fact that they are class A drugs which means they are a very dangerous and heavily restricted drug. The laws around any class A drugs include a penalty of 6 months of imprisonment and or a fine of 1,000 K fine for the usage however for things like supply and cultivation it can be 10 years imprisonment and or a 1,000 K Fine.

What are some strategies for keeping themselves safe around Heroin

One thing I would suggest is to not use at all but if that’s not an option being around someone you trust when using it E.g Close family Or Friends so that they can keep you safe, having someone who can stay with you the entire time you are under the influence, and then finally to make sure you are in a safe space where you cannot be any kind of danger when using it.

The scenario

Scenario: It is the start of interval; you receive a text. The text is from your friend. Your friend tells you to meet them at the back of the field to use Heroin with them.

A) 3 options – 1.) Ignore the text and don’t go 2.) Go and do the drugs with him 3.) Snitch on him and tell the teachers
B) Consequences – 1.) You don’t do the drugs and stay safe, your friend might think ur lame
2.) Your friend thinks your not lame, could get caught, not safe
3.) Your friend stays safe, Your friend may no longer want to be friends
C) Feelings about consequences – 1.) Happy that you stayed same but sad your friend would be annoyed that you didn’t do it with them
2.) Happy your friend doesn’t think your lame, but might be disappointing in your self
3.) Your happy your friend is safe, but upset that your friend would no longer want to be friends
D.) Whats the best option – 3.) is the best option and this is because it keeps absolutely everyone involved safe and hopefully your friend is mature enough to realise what he did was wrong. In the eyes of Taha Tinana is that he stays safe and not in danger, For Taha Hinengaro it keeps you mentally stable and healthy, For taha Wairua it keeps you in tie with what you believe in and keeps you safe. And then finally you stay more in tie with your family and friends.
