DVC Technology
Greetings and salutations, today in this blog I will be exchanging my view at DVC ( Technology ) to any fellow spectators reading this blog. A short recap of the DVC session, is that we got to do some clay artwork that me and all the other members enjoyed. So come with me on this journey packed with clay-making and having enjoyable moments.
First and foremost, I sat down in the 4 lines we made, about to make our way towards Papakura intermediate school. As always, we crossed the road and made our way towards the grainy path to Papakura intermediate school. When we arrived we could see several teachers already waiting inside of the gates, with a bright attitude. We then got into four separate consecutive lines, and waited for the other teachers to come collect us. for about 5 to 6 minutes, all the teachers arrived and then we made our way towards our fourth session. As we entered the classroom, the environment changed from hot to cold. We sat down seeing the tables covered with a paper-like material, which made me inference that this session was going to be messy. She then explained what we were going to do this session, which was making art out of clay.
We then got handed a clay for each one of us, and were told to either mold a Pounamu, or create a bowl which designs. I chose to make the bowl first, and the majority of the people around me chose to make the Pounamu. I carefully molded my clay into a smooth ball, which I then showed everybody, which caught their attention, which some wanted to just throw it across the room to see the result, but they obviously didn’t mean it. Then I flattened the ball not to hardly, into an oval shape, that wasn’t fully flattened. I then grabbed the carving tool to carve a crater inside of the ball, to create a bowl-like architect. I then grabbed the extra parts of the clay and created legs for it to balance, and also to make my design unique apart from the others. After that, I then grabbed a sharp tooth-pick and started carving out swirly lines to create a satisfying, illusion.
I added a lot of water because the teacher said that if we don’t use water our design will start to crack up and not come out the way you wanted it to come out, so the water is the key ingredient to this clay-design. Then I finished my bowl, and then I started to move onto my next clay design, which was the Pounamu. For those reading this and don’t have a clue what a Pounamu is, it’s basically a necklace design where you can wear it on your neck, to represent something in your life or even in someone else’s life. I decided to make a rock-like design with a face and called him ” Buddy ” while the rest of the people surrounding me, made cute clay designs, for example a teddy bear , a humanly carrot, and even pancakes with a tiny of butter on top.
In conclusion, this was my experience on DVC Techonology, I had fun making clay designs, and I hope to create another design like this in the future. Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you have a great rest of your day.
