Our focus is all about “Moving Our Bodies and Growing Our Skills.”
The children have been really enjoying Kelly Sports and are learning new skills through netball and other team games. Through these activities, they are developing important values such as taking turns, teamwork, camaraderie, and patience with one another. The playground is also a wonderful way for them to stay active and build their physical confidence, while yoga helps calm their minds and bodies and encourages relaxation and mindfulness.
Whakamīharo ana tēnei Asia!
This is amazing, well done Asia!

Room 6 Term 2 Update
We are almost halfway through the term and have been busy with our learning. Last week Thursday was our wonderful Te Tuhi art gallery trip and we thoroughly enjoyed learning how to create the colour wheel. Miss Bree was impressed with how we managed to mix several colours together, how awesome! Thank you to our lovely whanau for supporting us on the trip, we appreciate you. In maths we improved our knowledge on place value and will slowly make our way to learning geometry. We are also excited to start our 3D art project based on the human skeleton. In Cybersmart, we looked at creating images that included diagraphs which ties in with our structured literacy. Keep up the great mahi, room 6. We also celebrated our hardworking support staff who help us with our learning and various duties around the school. We are grateful for you all! We look forward to celebrating Samoan Language Week in a couple of weeks. How exciting.
Room 10’s Terrific Taniwha Assembly!
We are so proud of Room 10 for showing awesome CONFIDENCE when hosting Assembly on Friday.
They all did their best and showed Fun, Integrity, Respect and Excellence in their learning.
We especially enjoyed their Taniwha song with actions.
Check it out below!
Touch Rugby with Kelly Sports 🏉
This week, our class also took part in a fun PE session with Kelly Sports, where we learnt and practised the skills of touch rugby.
The students had lots of fun participating in warm-up activities, passing drills, and teamwork games. They practised important skills such as dodging, passing backwards, communication, and working together as a team during mini games.
It was wonderful to see everyone showing confidence, positive attitudes, and excellent sportsmanship throughout the session. The children were active, engaged, and encouraged one another while learning new skills.
We are looking forward to more exciting sports sessions in the coming weeks!

Bike skills with Big Foot Adventure
We had so much fun learning how to ride a bike with the team at Big Foot Adventure.
Measurement Garden
Today in maths we learnt about how to arrange objects in different length. We had fun creating our own measurement garden and were very proud of our finished work.
Why Is Japan So Interesting?
This term we have been looking at the different ways that Japanese culture has had an impact on our youth. Each group of students were given 3 weeks to research and create a Slide deck that would show what they have learned about ONE aspect of Japanese culture. Here’s the presentation that Ruzzel, Elise and Samantha gave to the class today:
Learning to use a Stylus
We are learning to write with a Stylus.
We need to remember to care for our stylus.
- Hold the stylus while using or put it away.
- The tip only touches the screen.
- Use a soft touch. Press very lightly on the screen.

Visit to Te Tuhi Art Gallery
We had the opportunity of visiting Te Tuhi Art Gallery in Pakuranga. The focus of our workshop was abstract art. We looked at the work of some of the well known abstract artists. We then had a go at using colour, shape, pattern, scale and other art making tools to create an abstract painting that represents the kinds of technology we use.

Carnivore, Herbivore or Omnivore
We are learning to classify animals based on their diet or what they eat. Whaea Bishop called out the names of animals and we needed to decide which group they belong to based on what they eat.
Carnivore, Herbivore, Omnivore

Which group do each of these animals belong to. Let us know in the comments.

Sandwiches
The children in Room 19 had a lovely time making sandwiches. They loved working with their friends but the best part was eating what they made. Can you guess what they made. Well let’s find out. Please leave them a comment on their blog and tell them – what’s your favourite sandwich?
Busy Learning and Creating!
The akonga in Room 27 have been busy welcoming new friends into our classroom.
This week, they created beautiful flowers for the special wāhine in their lives using pipe cleaners. This activity encouraged great concentration and helped strengthen their fine motor skills. The children were also excited to surprise their loved ones with thoughtful handmade Mother’s Day cards.
Alongside this, the akonga have been exploring maths through Numicons and practising their photography skills using iPads. It has been a fun-filled week of creativity, learning, and new experiences in Room 27.
Term 2 Week 3 Newsletter
Welcome back to Term 2! This is going to be a busy term. We have launched straight into our science topic which is ‘body systems.” We are looking at the digestive system first. It is fascinating to learn about how the human body works. The maths strand we are working on at the moment is geometry. Our focus for reading and writing last week was ANZAC day. Room 4 is lucky to get two sessions of ki-o-rahi training with coach Danny. The senior school visual art rotation started in Week 1 and will continue till the end of term. Whanau can view the art work the students have produced when they come to our learning conferences which will be held at the end of term.

Happy Mothers Day!
We love our mums!

Bigfoot Bike Adventure

Today we had an awesome time learning how to ride bikes with the Bigfoot Bike Adventure team! We practised important bike safety skills like wearing our helmets correctly, balancing, steering, and riding safely around others.
It was amazing to see the students being brave, showing resilience, and having a real “give it a go” attitude as they tried new challenges and built their confidence on their bikes. We are so proud of everyone for encouraging each other and having so much fun while learning new skills!
Ngā mihi to our Bigfoot coaches
Georgia, Tyler and Hamish!
Curiosity: Ruwaidah’s Post on How To Make Oxygen
Another great comic strip on how to make oxygen by Ruwaidah.

Curiosity: How Do We Get Oxygen?
Our first experiment was to put a leaf in water and see the bubbles form as the leaf makes oxygen. We learnt the word photosynthesis which is the name for the process of carbon dioxide, sun, and water that plants process to make oxygen.

Our create task is to explain how plants make oxygen and have used Adobe Express to do this. This is Cruden’s:

Having Fun with Probability
This week we have been learning about probability. We made spinners to work out how many chances to get red or green. We had lots of fun.
