Kia Ora whanau! we have been learning ‘how to make ice-cream’ and testing for Bacteria was apart of the process and we had to name what your teams name is on the lid of the petri dish and swipe stuff like door knobs, chairs, and the rubbish bin i’m sorry that i cant tell you much stuff because I was not here.

This term we are learning to make ice cream, We have being doing little experiments and this week we have been learning about germs and bacteria so we went around the classroom swabbing different things.

This week we have been learning about bacteria and fungus and it was gross then we swabed the door handle and the keyboards then we put the lids on them then we put them in a warm place. and then a few weeks later we looked at them and they were full of bacteria.

This term we are learning how to make ice cream. But before we do that we have to learn about germs and fungi.

1st Name what your teams name is on the lid of the petri dish.

2nd steep was to get a cotton swab and get this thing called a petri dish and then use the swab to rub it onto the dish then do a 2nd one then put the lid on it.

3rd we left the dish in the sun for 7 days then your germs and fungi is complete.

4th name what you swabed on the lid.

I am proud of my mahi because I put all my mana and kaha in to it.

Something I found quite challenging about this was how to do the background and choosing the colour.

Something I learned was How to use Google drawing and google shapes.

My tips about how to make a tuna is to hold down the shift key when drawing to get perfect shapes.

                                            THE BATTLE OF THE MOUNTAINS

Kia ora whanau today I will be telling the story of the battle of the mountains. It was a long time ago and to this day they might just do it all over again now let’s get to the story.

Long long ago in the lands of Aotearoa there once lived 7 maunga. Their names were Taranaki who stood tall and mighty, Ruapehu, yes he wasn’t tall but still quite strong and respectful,Tauhara stood with pride and respect,Tangariro, a fiery warrior with anger inside him and finally. Pihanga the peaceful and beautiful maunga (and friendly) the battle began. They all loved the same maunga so anger. Started to boil in their hearts jealousy rose and BOOM!!!

With a big clash Taranaki and Tangariro were the first to attack each other. They threw fiery boulders at each other which left scars. Then Ruapehu landed a bone cracking punch on Tauhara and fell to the ground even though he was hurt he got back up and all started fighting in the end. Tangariro stood victorious and hurt but still claimed Pihanga and heart broken Taranaki left the area but still had enough strength to carve the Whanganui river weeping in sorrow. His tears were like the source of the water.

Today, Taranaki stands frozen on the west coast where the sun sets on a fine day. Taranaki gazes over to the love he could not have.

Long long ago, Maui Tikitiki pulled up Te ika a Maui (fish of Maui. In the centre of the north island lived 5 strong and proud mountains. Their names wereTaranaki, a strong and proud warrior mountain, Tongariro, a strong leader and a warrior mountain, Pihanga, a kind and peaceful maiden mountain, Tauhara, a ruthless dark mountain and Putauaki, a quiet watchful mountain.

They were giants of the earth and they all loved Pihanga so Tongariro decided he will fight for Pihangas love. They all agreed.

”Don’t fight over me” cried Pihanga but the mountains didn’t listen. They threw hot rocks and boiling lava at each other and in the end Tongariro won the battle. “I  won” roared Tongariro! yaaaaaaayyyyy! You must leave this place and never return, demanded Tongariro. You will travel as far as you can go before sunset and you will freeze in place. So the mountains set off to find their resting places. Taranaki went to the west, Tauhara in the north, Putauaki in the east and Tongariro and Pihanga stood tall together !!!!!!!!!!!! forever.

Last week, we read 2 battle of the Mountains story’s and rewrote it. Here is mine hope you like it.

Long ago, in the lands of Aotearoa there lived 7 Mounga that fought in the center of Te-Ika-roa for Pihanga’s love. Their names were Taranaki, Tongariro, Ruapehu, Tauhara, Putauaki, Pihanga and Ngaruahoe.

Tongariro was determined to win Pihanga’s love and so was Taranaki and all the other Mountains however, Tongariro was getting too jealous of Taranaki’s love for Pihanga. They started to battle over Pihanga and threw fiery lava at each other.

Eventually the other Mountains joined the battle and only Tongariro won so they all decided to split up. “Haha, I won and you didnt”  said Tongariro Taranaki defeated and heart broken heading west, Putauki heading east and Tongariro staying by lake Taupo when Taranaki headed west he carved the Wanganui river. 

My favourite part about the story was how all of them fought over the only girl Moutain.

Long long ago, there were seven mountains who stood tall and proud in the heart of Te ika roa a maui. The mountains were  Taranaki, wearing a snow white cloak, Tongariro, wearing a smoke and nfire cloak, Putauaki, wearing a white Halo cloak, Tauhara, wearing a Cloak of regeneration, Ngauruhoe, wearing a Symmetrical Ash-Grey Cloak  Ruapehu, wearing White Chieftain’s Cloak and Pihanga . Pihanga wearing a Velvet Green Feather Cloak. Pihanga, was a beautiful, peaceful, graceful, dreamy, kind, and elegant mountain. She was walking peacefully with Tongariro. 

Taranaki, Tauhara, and Ngauruhoe stared at the both of them.

 “Look at Pihanga she’s so beautiful” said Tauhara,

 “I know and she will be mine” said Ngaruahoe,

 “No, she will be mine,” said Taranaki. When they saw Tongariro  beside her they started to get jealous because they wanted to be the one walking beside her. Taranaki got so jealous that he threw a flaming boulder at Tongariro. Tongariro looked behind him and saw the flaming boulder but he dodged it quickly, then Taranaki came charging over to Tongariro. 

“She is mine” he said angrily”

 “No, she is mine,” roared Tongariro.

 “Fine, let’s make a challenge. Whoever wins a fight gets to have Pihanga” demanded Taranaki. Tongariro accepted the challenge. 

“No my friends, please don’t fight over me, I love you equally” but they didn’t listen and then they started to fight and the fight went on for days and days until finally Tongariro won the battle.”Leave now, Pihanga will be mine!!” Taranaki felt embarrassed and humiliated because he lost the fight in front of Pihanga. Heartbroken, Taranaki travelled west so he could be far away from the raging Tongariro.

 Pihanga and Tongariro however,  lived happily ever after.   

These two weeks we have been retelling about the story of the fight with Tongariro and Taranaki, and yeah this is my story, hope u like it.

My favourite bit, was about Tongariro winning and Taranaki  going to west.

I have been learning about the short “i” sound. I did some dictation with Whaea Te Arani. I did really well. (Whaea Vicki is helping me right this and she agrees!)
