My Melody as a Superhero

Ni hao

Today I was asked to make a version of my superhero but an A.I created it! I put in words like flower powers, basket, adorable, kind, sophisticated, and pink! Craiyon is a great site and I really recommend it. What words would have you used for this superhero? The hard part was finding the right picture that suited for words, there were to many choices!

Electric Earth Systems

The last couple of weeks for PBL we have been learning about the earth systems. We learnt about rocks, soil, air, water and life forms. I learnt that there are five layers of the atmosphere and that there are three types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. For our create task we had to make an island using those systems we learnt about. We could make it as a map on paper, a diorama, build it with paper mache or on minecraft. I did it on minecraft and I named it pineapple island because its a tropical island, pineapples are my favourite fruit and it’s the shape of a pineapple. We had to make a blurb for it with pictures and information about it. We also had to make a plan.

My Blurb:

Do you use minecraft education at school?

Elsie’s Excellent Island

Hi for the past few weeks we have been learning about the earth systems once we learnt about them we needed to make a island or world about what we have learnt. We could create this digitally, with paper mache or a model I chose to do it on minecraft because it’s faster and you can make it look better and I called it Elsie’s Island. Mine is below. After, we had to write a blurb about it and show how we put and element of each earth system in our world/island. What would you put in your island or world.

Phones

Kia ora, welcome to my blog. Over the past few days, we have been reading a book named “MeMe” it is about a girl named Nina. Nina gets a phone because most of the kids in her class have one. She finds a girl named MeMe who looks exactly alike to Nina, MeMe is nice at the start then she starts bullying Nina. We had to do pros and cons about the book, we had to use words the author used in the story. Pros are the good things about phones and cons are the bad things about phones.

Here is my pros and cons:

Do you have a phone?

Terrific Towers

Reading Goal: Make connections between texts, Identify some text events and features and discuss what they make the reader think about.

This week for reading, we have been learning about huge structures and towers. The two structures we learnt about were call the Burj Khalifa and KVLY – TV Mast. Two facts I learnt were that the KVLY – TV Mast cost $500,000  which now would be 4.43 million dollars and that the Burj Khalifa is designed by and architect called Adrian Smith. For my create we had to create our own tower. I made my tower on mincraft.

Have you ever heard of the Burj Khalifa or the KVLY – TV structures before?

Wonderous Writing

Learning Goal: Create content that is concise and relevant to the curriculum task.

This week we had to pick from five writing tasks and do three of them. One I chose to do we had to describe a photo in around 100 words. The photo was a spooky photo and I named my (short) story: The Spooky Neighbors. I really enjoyed doing the task because I got to use my creativity by choosing what my spooky story would be about.

This is my spooky story:

Do you like writing stories? If you do what is the name of your favourite story that you have written?

Wonderful Water

Learning Goal: To Identify several ideas, discuss the author’s stance or purpose, and understand relationships in the text.

In Reading this week we were learning about natural resources. I learnt about some natural resources and how some are renewable and nonrenewable. Water is a liquid and nonrenewable natural resource and I chose water as my resource for our reading create, where we had to make a poster saying specific things about the natural resource we chose with pictures. One fact I learnt is that 70% of the earth is water and only 2.5% of that is freshwater. I also learnt that 5 million people die from polluted water each year.

This is my reading create:

Remarkable Reading

Learning Goal: Identify several ideas, discuss the author’s stance or purpose, and understand relationships in the text.

This week for reading we had to pick out of 5 tasks and do at least 2.  I chose a task where we had to read and article called  The Promise. It was about obviously a bomb or something had gone off and they were staying in the bunker but they were arguing about when to open the door and look outside.  We had to find some sentences from the book that enrich the meaning of sight touch and taste. Then we had to discuss/ explain how 2 of the sentences we chose enriched the meaning. After that we had too write to sentences for each of the things we had to write about which were how bad the bunker in the story smelt and how bad the food tasted.

Here is my doc: Link

Have you ever heard of stories where people have to stay in bunkers for some reason? If you have what was the book/story called?

Alarming Antibiotic Resistance

Learning Goal: Think while reading, pick up new information, and come up with new ideas and new thinking.

This week we read a book about antibiotic resistance which is when bacteria doesn’t go away when you use antibiotics. This is bad because then the resistant bacteria makes more bacteria so then next time it’s harder to treat because there is more resistant bacteria. For our reading create we had to make a short paragraph set of slides or mini google drawing about you new ideas and knew thinking about antibiotic resistance. I chose to do a mini google drawing.

This is mine:

Have you used antibiotics before? If you have why did you need to use it?

Marvelous Maths Create

Kia ora, last week in maths we did algebra. We had to create a pattern and make a rule. My rule was add 4 each time. We grew it every time. I started with 5 squares and added 4 each time. Once we were finished with the patterns we had a table in the corner and wrote the position number and the amount of blocks.

Here is my Maths create:

Have you ever done algebra?

Magnificent Math Create

Hi last week in math for our math create we had to create a 5 step pattern and make a rule for it my rule was that each time on each side of the shape one more circle is added or that you multiple the position number by 4 and then add 1 because of the circle in the middle of the cross so (4P)+1. Then we had to make a table to show the pattern clearer. Mine is below. Our learning goal was to use graphs, tables, and rules to describe linear relationships found in number and spatial patterns.

Do you know how many circles would be in the 7th position?

Don’t Sit If You Want To Get Fit

My Learning Goal: Make connections between texts and own life experiences, using more sophisticated texts. Also to identify some text events and features, and discuss what they make the reader think about.

In reading last week we read a book called don’t sit if you want to get fit. It talked about how standing is better than sitting and negatives and positives to each sitting and standing. Our reading create was to write negatives to sitting and positives to standing. We also had to write ways you can move and stand more.

Before you read my blog did you know anything about how standing is better for you? If not did you learn something from my blog and what did you learn?

I enjoyed making this because you can see how it is made. Your sports technology, because you might want to know.

Here are some steps on how I made mine.

  1. First, you have to go on YouTube and find a  good video of how the technology is made.
  2. You look at the video and get some information.
  3. Go on Canvas and start a template. You have to search,  “STEP BY STEP”
  4.  Next, You write the steps on the place.
  5. Maybe you can put a screenshot of the video too!

Do you now know how it is made? Please comment on me.
