Have you learned algebra yet?
For the past few weeks in math, we have been learning Algebra. After a few weeks of learning how to figure it out and solve equations ourselves, we were given the task of explaining it to you guys! We had to use Polypad to create an example of what the equation looks like and show how we can work it out step by step. Then, we went into Google Vids, recorded our screens and audio, and explained what we were doing and how we got our answer.
At first, Algebra can seem pretty confusing, especially when letters start appearing in maths ( I don’t think they belong here hehe ). But once you start to understand what the letters and numbers mean and learn the steps to solve the equation, it starts to make a lot more sense. I’ve tried to explain everything as simply and clearly as I can, so hopefully it’s easy to follow and understand.
Here is my video explanation.
Have you done this kind of Algebra before?
Do you find it easy or hard?
Today on the 8th of September we had to make a video of us explaining how to do an algebra equation and what “a” or “b” (etc) means.
Heres the video!
How did you find algebra when you were learning about it?
Kia Ora,
This week we have been learning all about algebra and scales. We were learning about equal sides and how if one side had subtraction the other side would have addition because thats the opposite. There was this website we used called poly pad which helped us to make our step by step tutorial on how to solve the equation.
Here is my video…

On the 24th of August, famous rugby union player Richie Mo’unga made his return to the All Blacks! After playing for a while in Japan, he realised that watching the games overseas made him want to come back, so that he did. Although he is only on an 18 month contract as an injury replacement the fans are still so pumped to see him back in the black rugby jersey. His first game back was against the Irish and British Lions, and even better it was a win! No better way to start off the season with a win. I found out all this information on Kiwi Kids News NZ. If you want to see some more news for kids I recommend you go right this second! Who is your favourite athlete?
Ka Kite, Meilani.

This week for reading we are reading the book Clowning Around ( I’ll put the link here ) Its about clown doctors and how they help in the hospital! This week I have done 2 creations. An animation about the clown doctor doing tricks and the boy that speaks little english in the bed with a doctor with the Mum talking. I also have a poem with it about clown doctors and how they make you laugh. What do you think about the story? Here is the animation and poem! I suggest you have your volume up!
Today we did a cyber smart where we did art like the iconic marilyn monroe art where you take a picture and add these awesome BRIGHT COLORS. Mine was a picture of

This is my drama.

This week for reading we had to make a create. One of the options was to ask the teacher and explain your own idea to her. Me, Rhys and Riley asked if we could make a hospital full of clown doctors which was what we were reading. Clown Doctors are like clowns but they work in hospitals. They can be found in Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington. Have you ever seen a clown doctor? Here is our slide.
Today we had to find a book from kiwi kids news and then write a blog post about it! I chose one that was called Worlds Oldest Octopus fossil. I turns out that it wasn’t an octopus but a nautilus! It was really cool! What do you like more, an octopus or a nautilus?

Room 2 and I made some type of art called pop art. Pop art is where you use the same picture but have different colours in the pictures. Here is my pop art. What picture would you have used to do pop art?

Today we got to choose a story on Kiwi Kids News, read about it and blog it. I chose to read one about bumblebees surviving underwater. It turns out queen bumblebees can stay underwater for up to a week because when they go underwater their bodys carry a very thin layer of oxygen even whilst they are underwater which allows them to breath, they slow down their bodys so much so their bodys uses up less energy. It may help them survive wetter winters and springs, when flooding happens more often.

I read an ardical on kiwi kids news about Messi retiring from Argentina. In the ardical it said that Messi played for 20 years with Argentina and will still play for Inter Miami. Messi was my 2nd favourite footballer not far behind Chris Wood. Do you like Messi and why? Heres the link so you can check it out.
