Michel Mulipola/wrestler

Today in the auditorium we had a special guest he is indeed a comic illustrator and his name is Michel mulipola. Michel is a comic illustrator and a wrestler it’s his 16th year of wrestling that’s older than me. So anyways he made a slide show to present to us and it was really good he has illustrated so many books and they are superb drawings and he has met the rock in person that’s literally my dream. Well he travels everywhere like America, New Zealand and Japan but I didn’t list all of them because there is way too much. The last slide of his slide show was just too funny.

Close Viewing – Avator ´Seeds of the Sacred Tree´

Brainstorm:

What Happened- The two are running and arguing. When the seeds from the sacred tree settle across Jakes’s body.

Camera Angles/Shot/focus/movement:

-close up – faces & seeds, forces focus, shows intricate details.

-over the shoulder -places us in the argument.

-tilt -following down the seeds

-high angle -as seeds drift towards them.

-tracking shot -as a character as they run

Lighting: natural to them, artificial to us -bioluminescent, fluorescent

cold-tones-blue/white, bright when interacted or dull otherwise.

Interactive, mystical, psychedelics, ethereal

Colour: -pallet -neon, blue, purple, pink, green cyan, magenta, white

-show its otherwordly, it’s natural but not earthly.

Sound/Music: non-diegetic (where we can hear but they can´t)

Mellow music, stings, tempo-slow, dynamics-starts quiet, gets louder to build intensity, tone-minor but not sad, more harmonic, subtle.

Plan: Lighting/Colour

In the scene ´Seeds from the scared tree; lighting and colour are used to create an otherworldly feel. This is demonstrated through the vibrant, neon and biolumescent colours of the Na´vi world. The colours included cyan, magenta, greens, blues, pinks and purples which appear natural to this environment, but foreign to ours. This makes the audience feel like they are on another planet, one that is mystical, fantastical and ethereal. The purpose of this was to show the extreme changes that Jake, a paraplegic human, experienced as he adjusts to a new body and world. Combined with the use of extravagant colours, is that of lighting to show life. When a living object is touched it generates a bright cold light that sents them in the light direction. This reminds the viewer of bioluminescent organisms such as algae and jellyfish that produce their own glowing light. If creatures like these actually exist on earth, it makes the idea of a planet populated by them more realistic to the viewer.

Close Viewing – Avatar ‘Seeds of the Sacred Tree’

Brain storm

What happened – The two are running and arguing. When they stop, seeds from the sacred tree settle across Jake’s body.

Camera Angles/Shots/Focus/Movement

-Close up – faces & seeds, forces focus, shows intricate details. Over the shoulder – places us in the argument. tilt to show the seeds falling. High angle, tracking.

Lighting Natural to the natives of that world, bioluminescent, fluorescent.  Cold – tones – blue/white, bright when the environment psychedelics, mystical, ethereal.

Colour – Palette – Neon,blue,purple,pink,green,cyan, magenta,white. Show it’s otherworldly, it’s natural but not earthly.

Music/sound – Non diagetic, mellow music, strings, slow, dynamics – ramps up, Tone – minor, subtle

Plan – Lighting/Colour

In the scene ‘seeds from the sacred tree’, lighting and colour are used to create an other worldly feel. This is demonstrated  through the vibrant, neon and biolumenescent colours of the Na’vi world. These colours included cyan, magenta, greens, blues, pinks and purples whch are appear natural to this environment, but foreign to ours. This purpose of this was to show the extreme changes that Jake, a paraplegic human, experienced as he adjusts to a new body and world. Combined with the use of extravgant colours, is that of lighting to show life when a living object is touched, it generates a bright, cold light that sends them in the right direction. This reminds me of biolumdnescent organsim such as algae and jellyfish that produce their own glowing light. If creatures like these actually exsist on earch, it makes the idea of a planet populated by them more realistic to the viewer.

Harlow’s Water Cycle

This week the class and I did an activity about the Water Cycle.

I felt smart during that activity because it was easy to understand.

I think what I could have done better is discuss better with my group. It is hard because I think we could have taken more time to discuss so we could come up with better Ideas.

Michel Mulipola comes to our school!

Today at school after Morning Tea we had to go to an assembly because there was a visitor. I was wondering who the visitor was as the class and I were walking over to the auditorium. When we walked into the auditorium I saw some books standing on a table. I was thinking that the visitor was maybe an author or even an illustrator! My guesses were correct as it turned out the visitor was a Samoan illustrator. His name was Michel Mulipola. (You probably already knew that from the title) He drew comics and was a pro wrestler. He loved comic books and wrestling as a child so his career was great for him. Michel also showed us his gaming setup (His gaming setup was AWE-INSPIRING)  And at the end he let us ask some questions and we found out he has a YouTube channel and Twitch account. I asked how many subscribers he had and he told us he didn’t check his YouTube channel and post very much because editing is actually pretty hard. I believe him, once my friend  made a YouTube video on how she edits and it was pretty hard. So anyway, back to Michel. After he finished answering questions we left. We checked out some of his books on the table and then left the auditorium.

Is It Okay to Share?

We were learning how choose which information should be kept private and which information is okay to share.

What information should be kept private?

Our phone number, full name, address, date of birth and other specific information about us (we don’t share the same information with others) – as it can identify us, it should be kept private.

What information is ok to share?

First name, our favourite things, pets names, and other information that is not directly able to be used to identify us as individual.

Why is it important to know the difference?

So that people online cannot steal your identity. So we cannot be identified or found in real life.

Here are the infographics we created to show what information we can share online and what information we should not share:

We used Google Drawing to create our infographics. Some things we found easy were: Putting images in, changing our font sizes / colours etc, knowing the difference between what to share and what not to share.

Somethings we found challenging were: Finding the ‘right’ images, saving the images, making your own images time management to get the poster completed!

We would like to learn how to use the lines and shapes better next time we use Google Drawing.

What are some things you think we should share on our blog?
