Piripi’s Amazing Water Cycle

In Paihia School my class started to learn about the Water Cycle.                                                                                              When doing the Water Cycle the first thing we had to do was make a explanation about the Water Cycle. When doing it I found it easy because I already knew all the steps of the water cycle.                                                                                            One thing I could do better next time is take notes about the important information that says the steps about the Water Cycle.

THE FANTASTIC WATER CYCLE EXPLANATION

Last week I was learning about the the steps of water cycle. While I was doing my water cycle explanation, I found doing the work a bit hard because I forgot to write down that the droplets don’t form clouds, they collect into clouds. Next time I should look at the success criteria and read the text more carefully.

Culture and Identity | AS90855

For the past 4 weeks of term 2, we have been working on our culture and identity unit. In this unit, we worked on displaying our culture and who we are as a person. We had the choice to decide how we presented our learning, from an oral presentation, a static image and a clay model. I decided to show my culture using a static image.

Explanation:

This image is about the Philippines, similar to the Philippine flag the image contains the sun which represents liberty. The stars represent the three big islands of the Philippines, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The mountains represent the various mountains that the Philippines has. It connects to me because I used to go on trips to the mountains when I was younger. The girl sitting atop the mountain represents me as a person and how proud I am to be a Filipino.

The row of flowers is a portrayal of the native Filipino flowers, Sampaguita. During my visits to the mountains and as I walked around my mother’s hometown, Sampaguita were seen everywhere.

The banana leaves along with the pig (Lechon) express celebration and festival. Filipinos have a lot of celebrations and festivals, and during those events, Lechon is served as the main dish. The banana leaves are a part of those celebrations, during family gatherings food is laid above the banana leaves. The family will then gather around and eat with their bare hands. This is called a boodle fight. This is significant to me because it is how I built my relationship with the rest of my family.

The quote “May we continue to prosper”, connects it with the elections in the Philippines. I hope that the Philippines will continue to grow and prosper under a good leader. The text below is a translation of the quote above.

Culture Identity – Wananga.

For my cultural identity, my process work was about a traditional saying which is mentioned almost every day for when we would get separated from our families.

At the start of my project process, I started to work on my identity first to get a vision of what I should do. I used drawing to express my work. When I finished with my identity drawing I kind of got a vision and started to share and talk to many students of the same culture and they gave lots of ideas which gave me an understanding.

After I got some ideas I had an amazing idea of how I came to New Zealand my family had a gathering to see us off and our whole family did a speech and one of the most important heads of the family stood up and said something that set tears to our family. He stood up and said

´No matter how the birds fly everywhere they always come together and meet again.

I couldn’t find the Samoan saying but I was really proud of my project and my process.

Culture and Identity – Wananga

Hello everyone, in Wananga, we have been working on our personal culture and identity. We can pick any presentation we can present to people. Here is the poster that I made and also the meaning of why I could have put the pictures.

This image is about the country where I’m born in. The quote that I made “Salamat sa ating mga bayani na tayo at buhay at malaya” means that I’m thankful for the people who stand up and also protected our land (which I considered heroes who protected our people, country, and our land).  The accurate translation is “thanks to our heroes we are still alive and free”.

The people that are standing on the mountain represent the man, woman or gender of their own, who stand up bravely for our country to save the land and people. The mountains represent the beautiful mountains that are in the Philippines. The 8 rays of the sun represent the provinces that led the uprising against Spanish rule. The 3 stars are the 3 islands in the Philippines which are Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The hands at the bottom of the poster are the people who are proudly representing the culture and identity of Filipinos or the people of the Philippines. The background is the colour of the Philippines flag, the clouds, the sun and stars make it look like the Philippines flag. I chose the colour base on our flag but I limited the use of the same colour so it wouldn’t be the same colours every time.

This connects with my personal identity because I myself am proud to be a Filipino and to be born in the Philippines. The Filipino heroes are one of my role models because of how they protected the land and the people in the Philippines which I relate to because I myself also want to protect the people I love.

Culture idenity

Hey everyone,

The last weeks in wga we have been doing culture identity. What we had to do first is that you had to draw something on paper or write what you are going to write on the doc. What I chossed was that I draw something and then see what the teacher will say to that. We needed to write down what we are going to make it like out of clay or write all the things you will write in the doc. I will show you what I have made with my clay.

I have made two hearts together.

They are differnt colors and I tryed to smooth it out to make it go all flat But it really didnt work. I have worked so hard to get my work done and put this on my blog. I choses this bc this hearts mean to me there is people that actally care about me and love me like my friends and family.

As you can see there is so many colours that I have put on my hearts. I made this hearts with clay. I asked someone if they can help me make the hearts and so I can do the rest they help me make one of the hearts and then I did the other one. I made small one because the really big one that I have made was to hard for me. But you know I have tryed so hard that I have worked on this for the last few weeks.

I hope that you like what I have made and see what I have put on my blog today.
