Kia Ora and welcome to my blog post for this week. Today in week 5 term 1 we have been learning about Omeo a guy who is in a wheelchair this week we weren’t going to have a create so we then had to use someone else’s that was on the site I used one that was talking about wheelchairs the learning goal for this week was think while reading, pick up new information, and come up with new ideas and thinking. what we firstly had to do before reading text we had to talk about these: Skim and scan – what is this text about? What do you think the need is for this technology? Why do you think this has been created?
After this we had to read a text called Changing Lives. Omeo story this text was talking about a guy called Kevin Halsall is an ideas man and Nothing makes him happier than solving a problem. After watching his friend Marcus Thompson, a paraplegic, struggle to get around in his wheelchair, Kevin started thinking about ways he could help. his friend became a paraplegic so he had an idea to make a wheelchair which is called an Omeo up it has two electric motors, powered by batteries. It has a top speed of 20 kilometers an hour and a range of around 40 kilometers. Kevin says his chair fills the gap between traditional wheelchairs and cars. “You can travel a long way in an Omeo to all kinds of places. It helps so you don’t have to go from a car to the ground back and forth.

For our create we had to think about If you could invent something that would change someone’s life, what would it be? We are going to be using some design thinking this week to create an invention that would have an impact on someone’s life. Please note, we will not actually create this project.
