Kia ora!
Week 11, the last week of Term 1 and also the last session of DFI. Today, we are completing the external recognition, the Google Level 1 exam.
Before the exam began, Dorothy joined and informed us of all the other amazing opportunities that Maniakalani offers, from more PD to being an on-air teacher. I have enjoyed listening to Dorothy every Wednesday, explaining in-depth what Manaiakalani is and how it has grown to what it is today.
Before the test, I felt quite anxious, even though I was mentally ready. The word ‘exam’ personally carries a negative connotation. Luckily, all the hard work paid off, and I passed the Level 1 Google exam! If anyone has the opportunity to participate in the DFI course or to take the Level 1 exam, I would recommend it. The amount of learning you get in such a short amount of time is outstanding!
My Overall Takeaways:
- Google Sheets isn’t as scary as you think, and freezing tabs is a game-changer.
- Something Kristyn from my bubble taught us on the first day of DFI: folding down the vowel to get a macron.
- Pinning pages on your browser!
- Creating folders in bookmarks.
- Google Docs can be a creative tool.
- My maps! Such fun!
- Using the same color as the background on a table so everything looks neat and organized.
- Love my updated site.
- How can we benefit from AI in the classrooms.
- The biggest takeaway is the time given to search through other kaiako websites and learning journeys, having the time to create and bring our mahi into Kura.
So, DFI has come to an end; no more Wednesdays online. A big thank you to Vicki and the bubble group.
Ngā mihi,
Abby
