Moon Crater Experiment
AIM: To look at the size of moon craters.
EQUIPMENT:
- Bouncy Ball
- Marble
- Tennis Ball
- Ruler
- Sand
- Paper
- Pencil
METHOD:
- We gather our equipment.
- Before leaving the room, we draw out a simple table.
- With our equipment in hand, we head to the long jump area at the back of the field where sand resides.
- Using the ruler, we smooth out a reasonably sized area of the sand.
- Measuring the drop at 10 metres, we drop each ball and measure it’s Crater diameter and Crater depth.
- We record each measurement, writing it on our papers.
- Once finished, we head back and recreate the table digitally.

Q&A
- Why did you carry out multiple trials for each meteorite?
- We did this to get more accurate results.
- How did you make sure your measurements were accurate?
- By dropping each ball three times at each centimeters.
- What was one control variable (something you kept the same) for this experiment?
