Kia ora blogger on June 11 we did an experiment that involved A rocket bottle, The aim of the experiment was to see how far how fast and how long the bottle rocket was going to go or stay in the air, we would achieve this by getting the right Equipment, the equipment that we need was A bottle, Some Cardboard, Hot glue, and paper. The result of me and my parents making the bottle rocket was 9 meters around 1.08 second and the speed was 8.33 ms-1.
The forces that were acting on the rocket were Push, Drag, and gravity and support. the forces that were acting on the rocket were unbalanced because at the start there was more push than drag but when it was up in the air drag was slowing it down, and gravity was pulling it down. the net force relates to the rocket because its the diagram that shows what is happening and how much force is being put onto the rocket. At the start the strongest force was push because the built up pressure that the air was putting onto the bottle was going to make it explode and the weakest point was at the end of the bottle and because there was water inside of the bottle when air was getting into the bottle. the water pushed the rocket and when it was going through the air drag was slowing it down and gravity was pulling it down and when it hit the ground the forces were balanced. The forces that affect the rocket the most were pushed at the start, and the drag which was slowing it down. other people in the class wont get the same results, because the bottle rocket won’t look the same and other bottle rockets might have more drag than other or less drag than others
I think my bottle rocket was successful because it looked cooler than the other one our had more designs and it had more wings, something that was unsuccessful was the drag, there was lots of drag which made it slow down and the wings weren’t symmetrical which made it go to the left a bit, how could we do better we could make it more aerodynamic and have less area for drag and make it symmetrical
