WEEK 3: RESEARCH AND INVESTIGATION
My inquiry question
How could improving sound in our classroom help our students improve writing?
My guiding questions
• What inventions have changed communities? | How could science improve our school?
My smaller research questions
• is there evidence to show that noise is distracting for learners?
• How many students find it difficult to concentrate when it is noisy?
• How could we improve the sound proofing in our classrooms?
My search keywords
Noise distracts learners
Concentration with noise
Sound proofing materials
Best environments for writing

Important information in my own words: Polyurethane foam:
High levels of sound absorption and insulation
Facing protection against dust and moisture
Chemical resistance
Panelling of machinery
Engine rooms
Close-fit canopies
Solid PVC sheeting:
High mass noise barrier
Effective sound absorption and insulation
How this helps my inquiry: this information helps my inquiry question because there are lots of different materials that can absorb sound or even body vibration.
Evidence type: Mostly facts
2. 10 BEST Soundproofing Materials That will BLOW YOUR MIND 2026

Important information in my own words: The acoustic sealant caulk can block air gaps or even around the light switch there is lots of noise that is coming from the inside it is very flexible the regular acoustic caulk when met with different types of temperature it can dry up and make cracks around it which makes sound flow into the crack but if you have the acoustic sealant caulk it still maintain its flexibility even with the temperature changing rapid.
How this helps my inquiry: This helps my inquiry because there are multiple sound proofing materials that are use in different ways like their is this thing called acoustic caulk it is for covering sound to prevent music that is very loud and once It is cover with acoustic caulk it is sealed with
Evidence type: Mostly opinions

Important information in my own words: do you find it hard to concentrate when the noise level is high?
how do you feel when the noise is low?
how do you concentrate the most
When is it hardest for you to concentrate on your writing?
Do you think where you sit in the classroom affects how well you can concentrate? Why?
How this helps my inquiry: Not added
Evidence type: Personal experience
My reflection
One important thing I discovered was: There are lots of different types of items to use for sound proofing and i have learnt that some are fiber and some are caulk. There are lots of different types of sound proofing that I don’t even know but it will be very fun to learn about.
One thing I still need to investigate is: What types of material do I need to make the different types of items for sound proofing it would be very fun in my opinion because i know i will learn more stuff about this topic.
My next research step will be: Not added yet
