Define current AND voltage.
Explain the difference between them.
Current is the number of electrons moving in a circuit. Voltage is the energy the electrons carry. The difference between them is that voltage is the force and current is the flow. As well as the fact that they work in different ways.

The bulbs in your parallel circuit are brighter than bulbs placed in series. This is hugely to do with voltage and current, here’s some further explanation:

Voltage is shared between the components in a conducting pathway, they add up to the total voltage of the power source. If the power source has a voltage of 9V in a series circuit all the components will add up to 9 if there is one light bulb it will be 9V, but if there were 2 they would be 4.5V. In a parallel circuit all the branches individually equal the voltage of the power source. If the voltage is still 9V, and the first and second branch have one bulb each, both bulbs will be 9V.

Current is the speed the electrons flow through the wires. In a series circuit the current is the same all the way around. In a parallel circuit each branch will add to the total current coming out of the power supply.
