LSD is the drug name for one of the most potent hallucinogen, mood- changing chemicals and its other name that are commonly used is acid and lucy. It is sold on the streets in microdots. It is made from lysergic acid, which is foond in the ergot fungus that develops on rye and other grains. It is mainly produced in the United States in crystals in illegal laboratories and later on converted into a liquid for distribution – it is odorless, colorless, and has a bit of bitter taste. Occasionally it is sold in liquid form; but no matter what form it comes in, it still deliver its users to a seious disconnection form reality. They call it a ‘trip’ usually lasting 12 hours or so. As things could go wrong which do really happens, it is called a ‘bad trip’.

These are common reasons why people take LSD. People often take LSD as a coping mechanism to attempt escape from the severe stress, past traumas, or on-going mental health struggles such as depression and anxiety. Curiosity that is heavily influenced by environment and social circles can drive people’ natural curiosity to find out what those alternate realities actually feel like. The negative associated with the use of this drug are the prodcution of LSD such as delusions and visual hallucinations. Over time, the user’s sense of time and self changes. Sizes and shapes of objects become deformed –  normal bodily sensations can turn into something strange and bizarre which could give the user the feeling of hearing colors and seeing sounds. This could affect the user’s ability to make wise choices and detect common dangers negatively. WIth repeated use over a few days, the body quickly develops tolerance to LSD; so the same dose  have a weaker effect, which means having to take ever more doses to achieve a ‘high’. BAd trips and flashbacks are only part of the risks of LSD. There’s a possibility of worsening your health problems in vulneable people.

LSD is classied as a Class A in New Zealand meaning that it is very prohibited as it carries a very high risk of harm. Dealing, supplying, or making LSD could lead you to penalties of up to life imprisonment. However, the possession of LSD carries a maximum penalty of six months in prison, a $1,000 fine , or both. Although, a tstric scientific or medical research be allowed to use the substance with special governmental permits.
