3D sculptures!

We made 3D sculptures. So  we had to do it in groups. In my group there was Xyril, Christine, Georgia and me. We made the Eiffel tower. We made it out of cardboard, tape and a bit of pens. We made some people, trees, bushes and the France flag. It was fun. The people in my group were nice. And our trees were 3D and the bush’s were also 3D.

Exploring All Of The Cultural World In A Week

Kia Ora

Cultural week in our school has just passed and we had a great time!

Each class had to pick a country and ours was France. We created models of famous landmarks that are in France like the Eiffel tower, the Louvre (which is a famous museum that has the Mona Lisa) is what my group did . We created google slides that had information about things that originated in France, I did mine on pétanque which is a game where you throw metal balls towards a target called a piglet.

We also created Matariki lanterns for Matariki using paper cups, I designed mine with a koru and a multicolored six-pointed star. We poked holes into the cups with drawing pins and nails, we had to put pool noodles into the top of the cups so they wouldn’t get crushed by the nails.

On Thursday we had a cultural festival and there was tons of free food from lots of different countries but I reckon the spring rolls were the best, there was also a food cart outside and I bought a fizzy drink with $3 dollars and on the last day of cultural week we got to dress up in a cultural outfit that we admire. There was a sausage sizzle and there was fizzy drink and sausages with bread.

Cultual dress up !

Today was cultural day. I was a kiwi (New Zealander). It is where you dress up in a cultural costume. It was fun but we went on the stage. I was scared but I said I am a kiwi, my class went off the stage.  I wore a Warriors top in the colour pink and I had some pyjama pants and gumboots. The warriors top was big but it was cute. I love cultural day.

We did 3D sculptures. My group did the Eiffel Tower out of cardboard it was hard but it was medium to hard.    This is my bff, Xyril building our Eiffel Tower.

Culturals around the world!

This week was cultural week.

I learned so much about different cultures. Each class had a country that we had to do learning about. Our class had France. We had to pick somewhere in France and then what ever we picked we would make a 3D sculptures of the landmark we picked. We had groups. I did it with Bella, Tessa and Naomi.

We also had dress up as a culture I did Hawaii. There were so many different cultures. There were also people dressed up as the flag.  We also had a cultural festival. There were all different kinds of food of all the cultures. At the end of the festival we lit our Matariki lanterns.

This week was really fun. Have you ever had a culture week?

This is what I look liked when I dressed up.

This is what my sculpture of the Arc  de triomphe looked like.

Cultures around the world!

This week at our school we had a school cultural week. We leaned all about the different cultures and what  even what their flags are. Every class had to research about their country. My class was on France. In France they speak French. In our class we also had to make a Google slide on something interesting  from France. I did mine on the French fashion.

On Thursday night we had a Cultural Festival. In the festival there was lots of different foods to try out like some food from Sri Lanka, the spring roll was my favorite food there. Each class did a presentation on their country our class had to make 3d sculptures from France.  We also did a Kapa Haka performance on the stage I was in it. We sang Mawhera e Thiore mai   and karangatia ra. We also lit the Matariki lanterns that we made  and we designed cool patterns on our lanterns but we did that at night.

Even in our school libary we celebrated cultures and countrys there was a birds eye view where you had to guess where the building and what country it was built in. And every time the lunch play bell went on the phone it was a national anthem and classes had to guess what national anthem it was.

And finally on Friday we got to dress up as different cultures but it didn’t have to be your culture. I was the French flag. That was the end of cultural week! Have you ever had a cultural week?

This was my sculpture the Arc de Triomphe. Do you like it?

Culture Week

This week at school is Culture Week and every class in GMS (Grey Main School) has a country assigned to them. My class (T2) has Switzerland. Every person has to make a brochure and here’s my one.

Brochure

To meet the requirements for culture week we have to do a table display, class display, make some nibbles and everyone has to make a brochure. Also everyone has to make a lantern.

I enjoyed colouring Switzerland places on the Switzerland map with Lucas.

Thank you for reading my post I hoped you enjoyed it.

Why Spring is the Best season

In class, we have been focusing on persuasive writing. We had to try to convince people why your favourite season is the best.

🌸Spring is the best season because the temperature is never too hot or too cold, it’s beautiful, and it’s when new life begins

Spring has really good temperatures so you won’t sweat or freeze.Unlike summer you don’t need sunblock, hats, or to stay in the shade all the time. And unlike winter you won’t have to wear tonnes of coats or beanies to stay warm.

Spring is also the prettiest season because it  grows flowers, plants, fruit, and the cherry blossom trees start to bloom. In spring you can also make things like daisy chains and bouquets.

Unlike the other seasons, spring has longer days, so more time to go to the beach and have fun outside. Spring is also the season when cute little animals are born, like lambs, kids, calves, foals, piglets, chicks, ducklings, goslings, puppies, and kittens.

And that’s why spring IS by far the BEST season. Because its not to hot or to cold, there will be cute baby animals and beautiful flowers.🌸

The best season

In writing, we are focusing  on persuasive writing.

Our persuasive writing is about are favourite season and why we think it’s the better than the other seasons.

This is my writing about why I think spring is the best season.

I think spring is the best season because all the flowers come out and all the trees leaves turn green, when the flowers come out you make daisy chains by making a little cut on the stem the putting the daisy through the hole make sure your hole isn’t too big or else your daisy will fall through. If you want to make a daisy chain it doesn’t have to be daisies, you could make one with different flowers that only come out in spring. The trees also all turn green which is perfect for photos I don’t like about you but I’d rather take a photo in front of a beautiful bright green tree instead of a leafless tree that’s dying like in winter and autumn.

During spring it is the perfect temperature

not too hot and not too cold which is good because during summer I can’t sleep, It is way too hot and in winter it’s way too cold  I freeze . In winter there’s never enough blankets to keep you warm but in spring there are always perfect temperatures for sleeping. Also when you go out you don’t need to wear heaps of layers because of the perfect temperature.

In spring there is also longer daylight which means you have more time for hanging out with your family and friends which is good because you can’t always hang out in the dark. Also some people do spring cleaning of course you can clean as late as you want to but if you’re cleaning outside you don’t have to wear a headlight for brightness and unlike in autumn and winter you don’t have to wear long sleeves and long pants because there’s no bugs to bite you.

That’s why I think spring is better than the other seasons because of its perfect temperature, longer daylight and all the trees and flowers that grow during spring.
