Duffy Theatre Show

The Duffy Theatre show returns to Weymouth. This time Duffy comes with his cousin Tuffy (a new character) and together they go on an adventure to solve a problem. This play was well written, rehearsed and performed by some amazing actors. Our children were so engaged and loved that they used words like “aura” and “cringe”. The play made us laugh and think about how important reading is today. Here is a short snippet from the show.

Celebration of Learning 2025

Every term we have an “End of Term” sharing learning. This term each class had to learn and present a dance item. Room 23 brainstormed and shared ideas. In the end we went with this song here called “Buga”

“Buga” by Kizz Daniel means unapologetically celebrate hard work. It is  a popular Yoruba slang encouraging pride in accomplishments. Kizz Daniel (artist) explains it’s about letting your results speak, not being ashamed of success after diligent work, and enjoying life’s rewards. Room 23 have worked extremely hard this year and we are so proud of our achievements. Watch our movie below and please leave us a comment.

Rangahaua – Big Catch Up!

We have had a very interesting time with an awesome student teacher Matua Te Rangatira, we have been exploring ways to bring maths to life in many different ways and learning a lot about non-violence and peace. There has been atheletics and Ki O Rahi. We have been artistic and created some beautiful visual art. We have been weaving with Margot, learning the tikanga around using the precious taonga harakeke. Most of all, Rangaghaua have shown time and again that they are KIND.

If someone loses a chromebook, everyone helps with the searching. If someone is upset, many people offer their care and concern and if someone has made a mistake (like spilling food, drink, anything – anywhere! or being unkind) then people FIX not BLAME. This is a beautiful class culture and I am so proud of every, single ākonga.

Painting, Kindness, Aroha, and Positive Self-Talk in Room

Today we enjoyed another inspiring art session with Whaea Monique. This week was all about free painting and free expression. Students were encouraged to paint anything they felt connected to, choosing their own colours, ideas, and creative styles. It was wonderful to see everyone’s imagination and confidence growing through their art.

After painting, we gathered as a class to share positive thoughts — not just about each other, but about ourselves too. We practised using positive self-talk, reminding ourselves that we are capable, creative, kind, and unique. Students also shared things they appreciate about their classmates, showing kindness, respect, and Aroha in our learning community.

Our session was a beautiful mix of creativity and wellbeing: expressing ourselves through art, building each other up with affirmations, and recognising the strengths within us and around us.

Reflection Question:
What positive message did you tell yourself today?
