Alcohol: To be able to purchase alcohol, you must be 18 and above. There is no minimum legal age in New Zealand to drink, teenagers who drink below 18 years old should be supervised by their parents or an adult. Teenagers can drink alcohol at a party when they’re with their parents. It’s a permit for people over 18 to show an ID to be able to buy alcohol. It is forbidden to drink around the streets drinking in New Zealand. The consequences of breaking these laws may get you fined or get into jail depending on what laws were broken.
Marijuana: It is a drug from the cannabis plant. Traditionally, this plant has been used for centuries as a drug for different purposes such as medicines. Marijuana is only legal if there is a prescription from a doctor. In many countries, it is both legal and illegal. Producing Marijuana can get you fined approximately $500 or could get you into jail. It is also illegal to sell it to individuals under 18 years old. Planting it may result in a 7-year prison or 2 years and fines too.
Cigarettes: You must be over 18 years old to purchase cigarettes. It is against the law to sell cigarettes or any smoking products. There are certain public areas where you are forbidden to smoke such as around school grounds, sports clubs, and many more.
Vaping: It’s against the NZ law to sell vaping products to individuals under 18. The purchasing age for a vape is over 18 years old. Adults can get penalties who selling vapes to minors (under 18 years of age) by getting fined from $5000 to $10,000.
